Module 1 presents a definition for assessment, the goals of the assessment process, and the criteria for a good assessment. It also discusses the differences between screeners and assessments and where and how these instruments are commonly used. An explanation of how assessments can be used to address some of the challenges in the human services field and how they can support Evidence Based Practice is also provided.
